Production of actuarial assumptions, calculation of the best estimate, provisioning review and provisioning of prudential reporting. Expert work, the justification of which — what data, what version of method, what arbitration — is reconstituted file by file at the time of the audit.

The ritual today

Periodic closing, analysis of budget/actual gaps, consolidation of management indicators and preparation of committee materials. The numbers circulate between files; the explanation of a discrepancy is redocumented each cycle, without a stable link between the figure presented and its source.

A recurring control ritual, mobilizing data from several systems, which leads to regular arbitrations. Decisions are made; their justification — data mobilized, rules applied, responsible for arbitration — is not attached in a stable manner to each execution.
